March 24-26, 2023
Virtual (Day 1), 4601 Market Street, Philadelphia (Day 2 & 3)

The BETR Collective @ Penn is partnering with the Pennsylvania Public Health Association (PPHA), a local health organization, to host a behavioral science case competition. Participants will be given a case brief and work to propose a solution to a current, real-life issue affecting members in the West Philadelphia community: the uptake of primary care services of a new federally qualified health center.

Participants will form teams of 5 and be assigned a mentor along with relevant resources. Prize money ($2,500) will be awarded to the winning team, and they will have the opportunity to continue working with PPHA to implement their winning idea.

What is a Nudgeathon?

Nudgeathon is a two-stage crowdsourcing interaction in which decision groups draw on insights and methods from nudge theory, augmented by design thinking and drama theory to devise implementable solutions to major behavioral policy problems.

The concept was developed in 2015 at Warwick Business School and has since gained international acclaim through its highly effective application. To date, Nudgeathon ave carried out over three dozen events across four continents, which have all been received with high commendation from all partner organizations and participants.

While there have been successful Nudgeathon events run in several countries across the world, this event will be the first official Nudgeathon to be held in the United States that also focuses on partnering with local non-profit organizations from the surrounding community.
